Cockroach Control
Introduction to the Trouble Species – German Cockroach
German cockroaches (Blattella Germanica), this type of roaches, are small brown cockroaches that usually appear in human habitats. Compared to other species of cockroaches, the German roaches has a particularly fast breeding rate, with a female cockroach able to produce over 400 offspring.
In addition, they have developed resistance to many insecticides, and genetic mutations over time have also led to some drugs becoming ineffective. With their strong reproductive power and adaptability, German cockroaches have become one of the most difficult household pests to eradicate.
German cockroaches like to hide in warm, humid places like kitchens and bathrooms, and also crawl into furniture cracks, behind wallpaper and other dark corners. They are basically omnivorous, with a wide range of food sources including meat, sugar, oil, flour, etc; they even feed on non-food items like soap, glue, toothpaste, etc.
In addition, German roachess also practice cannibalism of the same species and eat their own molted skin and feces. With their wide palate, any food scraps stored at home can become their food source.
Ineffective Personal Attempts and Final Successful Method
To deal with German roachess at home, I have also tried many control methods, including insecticide water, lemongrass bricks, natural insecticide sprays, cricket houses, granular cockroach medicine, etc., but none had very good results.
1. Granular cockroach medicine
Spreading medicine powder at night can reduce some cockroaches, but cannot completely eliminate them. Inconvenient to use and easily pollutes the environment. Accidental ingestion by children or pets can also cause poisoning.
2. Insecticide water
Although insecticidal water can kill some bugs, most roachess develop drug resistance and survive. According to research, the offspring of roachess polluted by insecticidal water have stronger drug resistance and breed “super cockroaches”.
3. Natural insecticide spray
The so-called non-toxic and odorless natural insecticide spray mainly uses borate to dehydrate and kill cockroaches. But due to the small size of the roaches, it may not come into contact with a sufficient dose of the drug. Even if poisoned, it is difficult to completely eliminate them.
4. Cockroach house
The sticky boards in the cockroach house can only capture roachess moving within range and cannot effectively control the quantity.
Finally…at last…
Based on personal experience, I finally found that gel cockroach bait is the most effective method to control German cockroaches (apply to furniture cracks, behind wallpaper and other dark corners; or where cockroach feces and cockroach eggs appear).
Unlike powdered drugs, the bait takes advantage of the cockroach’s dietary habits to make them actively eat it. Poisoned cockroaches will carry the medicated bait back to their nests and share it with their companions, achieving a chain killing effect.
The brand Chinese cockroach gel form bait I used performed excellently, successfully eliminating German cockroaches from my home in just a few weeks. I did not see a lot of cockroach carcasses during the whole process. The entire treatment process is safe, clean and harmless.

In addition, this German-made product also has many positive reviews.

Cockroach Control Methods
To effectively control German cockroaches at home, in addition to using bait, daily cleaning and maintenance are also essential:
1. Clean places where cockroaches often appear frequently like kitchens and bathrooms, avoid accumulating food residues, oil stains etc. which provide food and shelter for cockroaches. Keeping the environment dry also reduces cockroach activity.
2. Use cement, silicone etc. to seal cracks, pipe joints etc. in the house, cutting off cockroach habitats and passageways. Install window screens, drain gates etc. to prevent cockroaches from entering indoor areas from outdoor pipes.
3. Regularly inspect stored items such as paper, cardboard boxes, books, clear any cockroach egg cases. When receiving packages from outside, try to open them outdoors as much as possible to prevent cockroaches from entering the house along with the packaging.
In summary, actively eradicating with cockroach bait while maintaining household cleanliness and dryness is the most comprehensive and lasting method to control German cockroaches.
