What is a Ball Float Valve?

When you open the toilet tank lid, you’ll see a rod that can move up and down with a ball attached to the end – this is the ball float valve.
As the water level in the tank rises, the floating ball will also rise, pushing the lever upwards to close the inlet and stop the water flow.
As the water level in the toilet tank drops, the floating ball will also drop, pulling the lever down to open the inlet and allow more water to flow in. This maintains the water level in the tank within a certain range to prevent overflow or lack of water.

What types of ball valves are there?
There are mainly two types of ball float valves: side-entry and rear-entry. A side-entry ball float valve has the water inlet located on the side of the toilet tank, usually installed on the right or left side.
